ASICS Rise & Shine collection debuts the SONICBLAST 2
Sunrise, movement and a little more bounce: ASICS launched its new RISE & SHINE collection, headlined by the lighter, more energetic SONICBLAST 2.
We all know there is something about running at sunrise. The streets are quieter, the air is cooler and there’s a particular sense that the day is yours before the rest of the world gets going.
This feeling is at the heart of ASICS’ new RISE & SHINE collection, a sunrise-inspired range bringing fresh colourways to eight of the brand’s key running silhouettes — while introducing the latest generation of its energetic super trainer, the SONICBLAST 2.
Launching globally from 1 September 2026, the collection is built around the idea that movement can do more than train the body. It can change how you feel, too.
Meet the SONICBLAST 2
At the centre of the collection is the new SONICBLAST 2, designed to deliver a lighter, bouncier and more responsive ride while retaining the energetic character that has defined the franchise.
The biggest change comes beneath the foot. ASICS has redesigned the shoe’s forked ASTROPLATE — a technology unique to the SONICBLAST franchise within the brand’s BLAST family. The revised geometry allows more of the FF TURBO SQUARED cushioning to extend through the midsole and into the trampoline pod, with the aim of creating greater propulsion and a more energetic toe-off.
The midsole combines FF TURBO SQUARED and FF BLAST MAX foams, creating a dual-foam setup designed to balance cushioning with responsiveness.
Up top, a new engineered mesh construction focuses on breathability and comfort. The result is also lighter: weighing 14g less than its predecessor, based on a men's US size 9.
“By rethinking the geometry of the ASTROPLATE technology and how it interacts with the surrounding cushioning system, we were able to create a ride that feels lighter, smoother and more effortless, while preserving the distinctive bounce that runners have come to associate with the franchise.”
In other words, the SONICBLAST 2 is still about having some fun with your kilometres - just with a little less shoe to carry and a little more energy underfoot.

Each receives a sunrise-inspired colour treatment, with the palette moving through the changing tones of the early morning sky.
“We wanted to capture not just the colors of sunrise, but the feeling it creates.” That feeling - possibility, renewal and momentum is particularly fitting for running. Whether it's an easy pre-work shuffle, a long Sunday run or a hard session before breakfast, the ritual of getting out the door can set the tone for everything that follows.
And that's the thinking behind RISE & SHINE: celebrating the simple act of showing up and moving, before the day properly begins.
Built around movement:
The collection also taps into the philosophy behind ASICS itself.
The brand's name comes from the Latin phrase Anima Sana In Corpore Sano, or “a sound mind in a sound body”. Since its founding in 1949, ASICS has positioned movement as a way of supporting both physical and mental wellbeing.
The RISE & SHINE collection takes that idea and puts it into a distinctly runner-friendly context: sunrise, fresh legs, a new day and the opportunity to get moving.
For runners, sometimes that's all the motivation required.
