The Nimbus 28 arrives in a clean, refined colourway that reinforces its reputation as Asicsās comfort-first daily trainer. Visually, the shoe keeps the plush, high-stack of the Nimbus line, but the upper has been tidied up compared with the Nimbus 27, giving it a slightly sleeker look. In hand, the shoe feels polished and well crafted, and it weights in at 290g for a size 45.
The step-in comfort is immediately noticeable. The engineered knit upper feels soft and accommodating, with generous padding around the collar and heel that adds to the plush feel. Fit was true to size and secure, and compared with the Nimbus 27, the upper feels slightly more dialled-in around the foot, which I personally preferred. The heel feels well supported without being overly stiff, helping keep the foot stable through the landing phase. Once laced up, the shoe feels comfortably locked in through the midfoot.
Underfoot, the Nimbus relies on Asicsās FF Blast+ Eco cushioning, delivering the plush feel the line has become known for. With roughly 40mm in the heel, 32mm in the forefoot and an 8mm drop, the shoe clearly sits in the max-cushioned category. The ride feels soft and well protected without becoming unstable. The cushioning character feels very similar to the Nimbus 27, but the shoe overall feels noticeably lighter on the run, which makes the ride feel slightly more refined.
The Nimbus 28 settles easily into a relaxed running rhythm and feels nicely balanced underfoot at everyday training paces.Itās happiest when cruising along rather than pushing the pace, where the ride stays smooth and comfortable rather than particularly springy or energetic.Ā
The outsole features durable rubber in both the heel and forefoot, and the traction on the road felt consistently reliable during my runs.
Verdict:Ā The Nimbus 28 is all about relaxed miles. When the plan is simply to head out and run comfortably without worrying about pace, this is an easy shoe to grab.
