ASICS SUPERBLAST 3: updated cushioning with new FF LEAP foam

The ASICS SUPERBLAST 3 represents the latest update in the brand’s super trainer range building on the design of the SUPERBLASTĀ 2 with a new midsole compound, reduced weight and several refinements aimed at everyday training performance.

A key change in the SUPERBLAST 3 is the introduction of ASICS’ FF LEAPĀ foam which replaces the FF TURBO PLUS foam used in the previous model. The new formulation is designed to provide a lighter and more responsive underfoot feel while maintaining the energetic ride associated with the SUPERBLAST line. The midsole uses a dual-layer construction that combines FF LEAPĀ with FF BLAST PLUSĀ cushioning.

ASICS has also updated the shoe’s underfoot design with redesigned trampoline pods intended to enhance rebound and energy return through the gait cycle. The SUPERBLAST 3 has a total stack height of 46.5mm in the heel and 38.5mm in the forefoot, positioning it within the high-stack cushioned training category.

Upper construction remains lightweight and breathable through an engineered woven mesh now paired with an updated eyestay design intended to improve midfoot support and lockdown. The revised upper also incorporates new textures and patterns designed to allow the material to move more naturally with the foot during running.

The updates contribute to an overall weight of 239g for a men’s US 9, positioning the shoe within the lightweight super trainer category despite its high stack height. Sustainability considerations are also included in the design with recycled polyester used in the upper, a dope-dyed sockliner intended to reduce water usage during production and bio-based materials incorporated into the midsole.

Within ASICS’ BLAST series which includes models such as NOVABLAST and SONICBLAST and MEGABLAST, the SUPERBLAST 3 represents the latest iteration of the brand’s high-cushion, energy-return focused training shoe.
