The Merrell Agility Peak 6 continues the evolution of the brand’s established trail running line with a design that prioritises traction, underfoot protection and stability across varied and technical terrain.
At the core of the shoe is Merrell’s FloatPro midsole foam, which is used here to deliver cushioning for longer trail efforts while maintaining a relatively stable and controlled ride. This is paired with a full-length rock plate designed to protect against sharp rocks and uneven ground, reinforcing the shoe’s positioning as a more protective option within the trail category.
Outsole performance is a key focus in this update. The Agility Peak 6 uses a Vibram Megagrip rubber compound combined with an updated lug configuration that increases traction lug coverage. This design is intended to improve grip on loose surfaces, including gravel and mud, while maintaining consistent traction on rock. According to lab testing referenced by the brand, the updated outsole shows improved push-off performance on loose terrain compared to the previous version.
The upper features an engineered jacquard mesh designed to balance breathability and durability. Reinforced zones, including a full-length mudguard and protective toe cap, aim to improve resistance to abrasion from rocks and debris while maintaining ventilation. The structure of the upper is intended to provide a secure fit, particularly on uneven ground where foot stability is critical.
Additional comfort elements include a PU footbed and an SBR tongue construction designed for a closer, next-to-foot feel. Flex Connect grooves run along the length of the midsole to support natural foot movement and adaptability on changing terrain, a feature that aligns with the shoe’s technical trail focus.
In terms of geometry, the Agility Peak 6 sits within the cushioned trail category with an approximate stack height of 38mm at the heel and 30mm at the forefoot and an 8mm drop. Weight is listed at around 280g (size UK 10 / EU 45), placing it in line with many protective, trail-focused models rather than lightweight race-oriented options.
Overall, the Agility Peak 6 is positioned as a durable and high-traction trail shoe designed for runners who prioritise grip, protection and stability over minimal weight or speed-focused responsiveness.
