UA Flow Velociti Wind 2 Review.

Light, fast & simple, plus a brain.

A lightweight running shoe with a narrower and comfortable fit. It's great for every day road running, ideally for a lighter runner who enjoys speed.

A visually aesthetic shoe that comes with the a built in chip allowing you to track your activity in the “map your run” app. Great for monitoring progress including speed, stride length, foot strike angle and distance. The chip advises accumulated distance so it's like a built in logbook with coaching capabilities too.

The shoes sync'd quickly but I am yet to see my runs tracking properly.

The app wasn't as easy I expected to set up, and while they sync'd quite quickly, downloading accumulated data seems to be easier if you are manually starting and stopping each run on your phone.

Having been running in more plush super-shoes I found the FLOW's more minimalist sole a little firm initially, but they wore in fast and the lack of an outer rubber gives a great sense of surface feel with solid non-slip grip.

They held up well in the rain despite the fairly smooth midsole that ingeniously doubles up as an outer sole.

The shoe is low cut around the ankle and heel which I like, it ensured blister free first runs.

The shoe is fairly minimalist in terms of cushioning and trimmings with an upper made of tiny straps which mould well to your feet. These 2 aspects combine to make it a positively understated shoe and a fresh addition to the shoe quiver at a good value R3 499. Mixing up shoes keeps your feet stronger longer. I couldn't help feeling goddess-like after a run up the steps of the legendary Parthenon, in Greece.
