Nedbank fuelled the Gravel Burn with 'Kindred by Gravel'

This new event was fresh in every way. A first of its kind in a unique setting, and it rightfully caught the attention of endurance sports fans around the globe. As the week progressed, the characteristic green and orange colour combination began to fluidly represent the beauty of the unspoiled open nature and the burning heat of fierce competition and resilience against a tough uncompromising course. It was as brutal as it was beautiful, and the combination has made it unforgettable. This is a symbiotic partnership worth celebrating.

Every rider knows that gravel has a way of revealing character. It strips away the noise, leaving only the crunch of tires on dirt, the rhythm of breath, and the people beside you who keep you pedalling. It's not just about the finish line – it's about the stories, the challenges, and the shared moments that connect one rider to the next, in the tents, out on course, beside the fire and for many months to come, no doubt.

In this spirit, Nedbank introduced 'Kindred by Gravel', an ideology rooted in the belief that camaraderie and connection lie at the heart of every ride. Through this lens, Nedbank celebrates the bonds forged on the journey, honouring the grit, perseverance, and shared experiences that make each ride meaningful. More than a sponsorship or activation, Kindred by Gravel is how Nedbank brings this philosophy to life throughout Gravel Burn.

As title sponsor of South Africa's first-ever Nedbank Gravel Burn, the bank isn't just backing a race – it's enabling an experience that unites endurance with empathy, challenge with community, and ambition with belonging. Gravel riding is more than a test of endurance – it's about the connections and shared experiences along the way, says Khensani Nobanda, Group Executive for Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Nedbank.

"Through Kindred by Gravel, we're proud to support South Africa's first-of-its-kind Nedbank Gravel Burn, enabling riders to push their limits while celebrating the people and places that make every ride meaningful. As a bank that believes in bringing people together through what they love, we see this as a way to connect people, inspire perseverance, and create lasting bonds."

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of South Africa's Garden Route, Nedbank Gravel Burn challenged riders with an 800 km journey of grit and glory, the race which kicked off on the 26 October 2025 and ended on Saturday 1 November. It was an experience that blended long-distance endurance with the freedom of exploring untamed roads and scenic landscapes, taking riders off the beaten track and into the heart of shared human experience.

Through Kindred by Gravel, Nedbank transforms every pedal stroke into a story – one of resilience, discovery, and connection. It's a reminder that even in the solitude of the ride, no one truly rides alone. For Nedbank, Kindred by Gravel is more than a philosophy. It's a reflection of what the bank stands for: being the bridge between people, passion, and possibility. Just as riders rely on one another to reach the next horizon, Nedbank enables the journeys, ambitions, and communities that move South Africa forward. We are all grateful that South Africa can now boast this unique experience, set against a pristine canvas that celebrates and showcases our magical country.
