Falke Pedal Range: Don't waste watts, pedal to the medal.
Falke's new Pedal range are designed for comfortable efficiency on the bike. As the country's best riders line up for SA marathon and enduro mountain bike champs this weekend, attention tends to land on the obvious kit — the bike, the drivetrain, tyre choice etc. But over a hard day in the saddle, marginal gains in performance often come down to smaller and easily overlooked details, like the contact points between rider and machine.

Flagship features, friendlier price: Garmin’s new Forerunner 70 and 170 are here.
Garmin has expanded its Forerunner line with two new GPS running smartwatches — the Forerunner 70 and the Forerunner 170 — that pull training features from its higher-end models into a more affordable package. For runners who've eyed the brand's advanced watches but balked at the price, this is the range that closes some of that gap.

The Trail That Time Forgot: Two Days at the Ossewa Trail Run
Not too many events can claim to have sold out in just their second year. An image of runners heading through a buffalo reserve then up through a steep sandstone crack to a magic view of the Drakensberg escarpment caught our interest, so we travelled to the eastern Vrystaat to catch a taste of what was being served to the very happy-looking trail runners.

Tested | Salomon Ultra Glide 4
For me, this is a trail shoe built around comfort, confidence and versatility. It’s the kind of shoe I’d reach for when the route includes a bit of everything, and I simply want to enjoy being out on the trails. After a couple of runs in them, this has quickly become one of the trail shoes I’d most likely grab first before heading out the door

Tested | Diadora Gara Carbon 3
It’s a good shoe,it just doesn’t give that “wow, this is fast” feeling. It’s light but not super springy or explosive, and if you’re expecting that typical carbon bounce, you might find this a bit muted. That said, it still gives you that bit of speed support when you need it!

Tested | ASICS Superblast 3
The hot new Superblast 3 from Asics landed recently – and blew us away. In short, it’s a versatile, max-cushioned, non-plated trainer featuring a new, softer yet springier midsole foam. I went for both a long run and a more up-tempo session in these straight out of the box and found the plush, soft and spacious upper, with its firm, slide-in offset heel cup and integrated tongue, a treatfor my feet.

Falke | World-class speed: the science of the city marathon
The Cape Town Marathon is South Africa’s bid for World Marathon Major status. It is fast, flat, and technical. To chase a PB in the Mother City, you need gear built for the demands of a fast course — kit that supports recovery while you run, and protects the parts of the foot that suffers the most at race pace.
